Introduction & Naming
Blue Owl is a Denver, CO based real estate/home & property team with a focus on minorities in Colorado.
During the initial client meeting we learned of their original naming idea: Blue Mountain. For a Denver based brand, the mountain iconography seems like the obvious idea, and that is not a good thing. Obvious iconography or obvious connections pose a huge problem, they tend to be over used. Keeping this in mind, we set out to create a new name for the brand.
Based on what we learned from the initial meeting, the client wanted a connection to nature and the color blue. We landed on Blue Owl based on two key concepts. The owl is the definition of wisdom and knowledge. Wisdom and knowledge of the market, that is what Blue Owl offers.
Other names that were presented include BluPont, Cala Blue, Bluwal, Rook Lazuli, among others.

For the Blue Owl brand, the client expressed the importance of a modern and clean look. With this in mind, we designed several concepts that lean on modernism, minimalism, and abstraction. These are just 9 of the many designs created and presented.
